Tarang started because of a simple, boring, universal problem: ready-made ethnic wear almost never fits. The sleeve is long. The kurta is short. The bust fits but the waist does not. Nearly every woman who buys ethnic online has a story about paying a tailor to fix something she just bought new.
Akshi Gupta has been stitching for years, and Tarang is what happened when the stitching became the point rather than the afterthought. Every piece here is cut after you order it, to your measurements.
We work mostly in cotton, muslin and ikkat, because they are what you actually want to wear through an Indian summer. The lace at the cuffs and hems is applied by hand after the panels are cut, which is the slowest part of making anything here and the first thing you notice when you pick it up.
We are small. That is the trade-off, and it is a deliberate one. You will wait seven to ten days for a made-to-measure piece. What you get back will fit.
